Bandai Namco announced that a new Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi game is in development, more than 15 years since the last mainline entry in the series. Then the video says "Get ready for Battle" and is followed by the words "a new Budokai Tenkaichi begins" which appears at the end of the video. The 57-second video immediately made gamers hype.

The previous series was first released in 2007 for the PlayStation 2 and Wii platforms. This game is quite popular among gamers, especially PlayStation 2 gamers in Indonesia because this game is one of the stick destroying games on that platform.
The new game doesn't have a title, release date, platform, or even an official upload yet as the trailer was shared by several YouTube channels over the weekend. However, the official Twitter account for the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour event also shared a version of the trailer, and it's clearly genuine. (The trailer version that appears on YouTube refers to the series with the subtitle provided in the Western market, Budokai Tenkaichi, while the version shared by the show uses the Japanese name, Sparking!)

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi first appeared on the PlayStation 2 in 2005, not only that, as far as mainstream games are concerned, although there have also been a few spin-offs :Tenkaichi Tag Team, 2010 PlayStation Portable title;Ultimate Tenkaichi, PlayStation 3 game and 2011's Xbox 360 which messed up the gameplay formula quite a bit; and the unlikely Dragon Ball Z for Kinect from 2012. The fighting games Budokai Tenkaichi are notable for their huge roster of playable characters (and alternate character forms), and their over-the-shoulder 3D camera, giving combat a very dynamic feel. The trailer for the new entry doesn't reveal much, but it does show a beautifully modeled Goku undergoing a dramatic transformation. And the reaction from fans, who have been longing for a new Budokai Tenkaichi game for a long time, has been quite intense.
